Bikeroom

Technical consulting and development

Technical leadership and development for a bicycle marketplace: dealer integrations, administrative automation and catalog consolidation.

In progress

I took over development at Bikeroom, replacing the team provided by a software agency. The company already had a Shopify marketplace, a dealer management system and a large product catalog database. However, synchronization issues and duplicate listings directly affected the business: products were sold after they became unavailable, customers were dissatisfied and the operations team faced a substantial amount of extra work.

I started with dealer integrations. Some treated an unresponsive website as an empty catalog, deleting all of that partner’s products. Even a change to a dealer’s website could interrupt imports and cause their entire catalog on Bikeroom to be lost.

I developed new integrations for individual dealers, built on a shared package that handles the common behavior of platforms including WooCommerce, Shopify and PrestaShop. This structure makes it possible to share logic across similar integrations while handling each partner’s particular requirements separately.

To standardize the collected data, I integrated AI: the system extracts the information we need from dealers’ inconsistent JSON data and converts it into a common format. I added a hashing system that identifies unchanged products, avoiding reprocessing them during every nightly synchronization. This saves hundreds of euros per month in token costs.

The second area of work was administration. Preparing sales invoices and managing shipping had become an operational bottleneck. I connected Shopify to the management system through Fatture in Cloud and TeamSystem, automating the preparation of draft invoices and shipment details.

This automation reduced the time required for the affected tasks to roughly one tenth of the previous level, easing the administrative workload and speeding up order processing.

The collaboration continues today with the redesign of the catalog and the dealer management system. We are consolidating the catalog into a single reference shared by the systems involved, avoiding the need to maintain two separate versions of the same data.

The goal is to address inconsistencies at their source, simplify maintenance and make day-to-day product management more reliable.
